AAA's 5th ATTACK is the BEST one EVER!
Thursday, January 17, 2008
After 2 long days of waiting (*COUGH*DOWNLOAD*COUGH*) due to my 5th ATTACK only arriving in February (with Kuu's
KINGDOM), I finally had the time to watch it. To be honest, I was expecting another 4th ATTACK, a half-hearted dancing thing but still decent enough. Little did I know it was going to be this good.
While there are LOADS of pictures in this post (I'm guessing over 100), some members have WAY lesser pictures than others. It's not entirely my fault (cameramen weren't giving me good shots). So please forgive and forget. xD
[VERY BIG WARNING: A LOT OF SPOILERS]The whole concert in my opinion, can be divided into parts which I can associate with colors. Here's the tracklist and their respective colors.

[Kuchibiru Kara Romantica]5th ATTACK starts off with a sexy number, and Urata sounds absolutely
sexual in this one. Misako's outfit shows her off very well (legs!) and the masks were a cool idea, even if it was short-lived. Urata could do without the crotch groping though (which he is so prone to doing nowadays, and I don't want to know why). This was otherwise none too special, as are the other songs in the
RED section of the concert.
[Paradise Paradise]I was not looking forward to Parapara because the studio version in my opinion sucked like hell. However, the performance shocked (and delighted) many as Chiaki GRABBED Nissy, tossed him onto the floor, then HUMPED him repeatedly while he squirmed as if he was getting raped.
Totally scandalous and *lick*.
Oh, and the performance was okay too. Surprisingly.
[VIRGIN F]One of the must-have songs at AAA concerts (though for what I have NO idea). To be frank, I cannot remember how the performance was. I took little notes on the separate performances and this is what I wrote for VIRGIN F.
* Hidaka Nissy good, Misako was so-so, Urata had one line -> chokes
* Misako was giving a tortured expression, very Ayumi.
So yeah, that was my view on VIRGIN F. *shrugs*
[Red Soul]There was a cheesy opening by Hidaka, but at least the raps for the other parts of the song were good. Nissy was constantly a little flat, which was sort of irritating. The camera was irritating too. There were too many scene changes, causing the dances to be confusing to watch. So up to this point, I still have no inkling as to whether the dances were REALLY good.
The red section of the concert can only be described as sexy but boring. Kind of oxymoronic but it's true.
[Friday Party]The next part of the concert starts with Friday Party, and this time it is a more relaxed (and less shout-y) version. The outfits everyone has one were AMAZING, and this version of Friday Party was a very interesting one. While someone sings, the other AAA members played around and that was fun to watch too (it's better than watching the Friday Party dance for the 29th time). Nissy X Misa fans will love the "Takahiro?" "Oh Misako." parts (you could hear the whole stadium swooning). Hidaka and Shuta still had their rap, which was really impressive too.
[Deai no Chikara]The party is over, and everyone has to go home (or so says Urata). Nissy naturally ends up walking with Misako and sings Deai no Chikara, while Chiaki tries to gain Shin's interest the whole time, to not much success. The boys play around like... boys. After a bit of singing, Nissy admits to liking Misako, and the elated couple are about to kiss when Shin swoops in and tells Misako that he likes her. Chiaki is very sad. Misako tells him that she wants them to be friends because she likes Nissy.
Stereotypical love triangle aside, this was my favorite ever version of DNC ever because Chiaki and Shin were just too cute to be true. Both Nissy and Misako delivered their lines well (contrary to previous performances where one or the other would screw up) which made for a sweet and romantic mood.
[Hanabi]Misako pulls sad Chiaki along to watch the fireworks while the guys play with sparklers. Chiaki does really well (considering this is her first full song performed) and it ends with Misako saying that they will be friends forever.
Corny.
[No End Summer]Time for ball throwing! AAA throws many autographed balls into the audience which made the crowd go into a big frenzy (like duh). Urata's singing was weak at the higher notes but both Shin and Shuta did well on this one. The story continues as Misako plays ball with Shin, and Nissy gets jealous. Misako tries to cheer Nissy up but Nissy remains jealous. Misako continues to play ball with Shin (smart move there girl).
[Chewing Gum]After
No End Summer, I wasn't really expecting much from Urata, but amazingly he still does well in this song. Nothing too different from their previous performances, but still this became one of my favorite
Chewing Gum performance ever. Must be the lighting.
[Deai no Chikara 2] Misako was off-key quite a lot in this one, but I doubt anybody cares. Nissy holds Misako's hand and both of them sing happily. Nissy finally tells Misako that he loves her and the other AAA members come out to congratulate them. As the two continue singing, the other AAA members have a game of "Jan-ken-pon" to see who will go break the two's kiss up. Hidaka loses (all the fans knows this was pre-planned, but what the heck) and ends up kissing Nissy.
You can just see the Nishimitsu fans dying of nosebleed.
[Get CHU!]Misako takes the lead for this one (as expected) and while it was cute and bubbly and shiny, there was nothing special about it.
Hence ends the white section of the concert. It was fun, it had a laid back mood and it was very very enjoyable.
[Shalala Kibou no Uta]The BLACK section of the concert started off nicely with an unplugged magical feel. A guitar and various percussions created a mood found dominantly in Hira Ken's Ken's Bar concerts. It was relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable.
The next song up was Shalala Kibou no Uta, a song I'd never ever liked being performed in public. The reason was simple, out of the many times this song was performed, Urata strained through EVERY SINGLE ONE. You would cringe for him every single time, it was that bad.
This time, Avex made a very smart move by shifting Urata out of the lead for this song, and taking over were Misako and Chiaki. Urata still had a few lines, which he struggled through, but Misako saves the song by doing so well. It made the sound slightly sad and all the more beautiful. Very worth the listen.
[Kirei na Sora]Kirei na Sora was given a new arrangement as well, and the start of the song still sounds very typically Hirai Ken, which is a good thing trust me. The boys each get solo parts, with Hidaka starting off. He sounded very freakishly similar to Nissy. Shuta disappoints me just a LITTLE bit, but Shin has improved so much. He must have taken some classes or something. In the chorus, Hidaka sounds like a Johnny's Entertainment boy (considering that's where he came from, not very surprising), which was kind of odd. Urata once again takes a back seat, taking only the challenging lines (he held a note for god knows, 30 seconds?). That picture of Urata smiling is him being happy after the audience clapped for him on that amazing feat.
[Wonderful Life]Started off with strings and guitar this time, this was another very toned-down version that awaits us. Nissy grabs the tambourine and plays with it. Hidaka did one line which ended up being VERY weird (due to it being too high). It was another laid back performance, but this one was fun to watch as well due to crazy antics from the AAA members. Shuta impresses (once again), as does Chiaki and Shin. Urata does a part horribly, he must be getting a bit old.
Hence the black section of the concert ends. This was the only section to get a live band this time, which is such a pity. AAA when coupled with live bands are AMAZING.
The next section is blue, and I know it's only two songs, but these two songs don't seem to fit into the black or the silver sections, so they get a whole section of their own.
That's not saying they're too much good though.
[Us]The dance doesn't look as ridiculous as it did in 4th ATTACK, probably because they danced way harder this time. Urata's weak performance disappears (not for too long), and both he a nissy did a "we're such good friends" display, which was eh heh in my opinion.
[Body Talker]Chiaki gropes Urata's butt this time. Boy, isn't SHE busy for this concert. The dance is kinda reminiscent of CHU-LIP though, which is kind of distracting. It's still very JE-sounding and came off as a very bouncy song (it's the dance). Shuta's showing off was nice.
The blue section ends, and it is the MOST boring section of the whole concert. Next up is the silver section though, which proves far more entertaining.
[Dance Corner]Hidaka did a little dance and introduced the next segment, which seems to be a dance corner ("Suteki dance performance"). Shin's chair dance was boring (same moves again Shin-chan?). Misako's "I'll shoot you" makes you want to be a hardcore criminal, although the gyrating while the gun is down her groin is a little over the top (not saying I don't like it, xD). Urata's kung-fu was VERY short-lived and then came Chiaki with her carnival inspired twirling around. Shuta decided ripping off his tank was a good idea, much to our delight. Nissy does a breakdance which never fails to amuse me (a kid breakdancing?!).
[BLOOD on FIRE] The silver section starts with the must-have for every concert. Shuta was deliciously sweaty and distracting. It was otherwise another good performance, which prove to be a little boring due to the number of times we've seen it.
[That's Right]A very grungy and emo performance (look at Misako). I can't believe Urata forgot half his line, considering he "saved" Nissy in the previous ATTACK. The dance was addictive to watch, so beware.
[Climax Jump]It was slightly repetitive and boring to watch, even though the singing was consistent throughout. There were more danceoffs in this one (Nissy & Shuta), none of which were too impressive. I mean, all Nissy's showing us is his favorite position in bed (last picture). *shrugs*
[SUNSHINE]It's time for the last song, and ALL of us know that it's NOT the last song. It was time for a big united wave-along. Urata was oddly smiley in this performance. It probably because of the bubbles, though I still can't see how it fits in to the scheme of things.
The silver section is named as such because it contains the best of AAA's songs. The best selling (BoF and Climax Jump) and the fan favorites (That's Right and SUNSHINE). It was not too special, saved by the fact(s) that they're singing very well-received songs (and Shuta's hot sweaty body).
[Performance Entrance choosing]The big screen shows AAA having some strange meeting, and apparently it was a meeting to decided which section of the stadium they wanted to enter from. So they started screaming things like "Southwest people, is it ok if we go in by Southwest?" blablabla, which naturally caused a frenzy. They've finally decided (no I don't know which entrance they came from) and they come out running, all green and pink like watermelons should. They've entered, the fans (of one section) are insanely happy, and it was time to perform.
[SHE no Jijitsu]Misako's blouse was dangerously short, and Chiaki was cute in her modified concert tee. Urata gets a nice good feel of his own man boobs. Otherwise, none too special. We've seen this before.
[Winter Lander!!]The stadium was now divided into groups, and had to do the wave turn-by-turn along to the chorus of Winter Lander!!. With the audience's participation, this was SO GOOD. Hidaka's rap was slightly different just for this one, and it was good too.
[Talk]I didn't understand much at this part, and the only thing I wrote down was "Maido! Maido!", so yeah. Shin did the "Maido!" thing with the audience once again.
[Hurricane Riri, Boston Mari]It was a typical Hurricane Riri performance, complete with towel spinning and all. Once again, it's all been seen before, so yes, sort of boring.
[Saigo no Kotoba]This replaced the much needed "crying song" of every AAA concert (Bokura no Te) and starts with a very sweet and simple piano. Everyone gets a good deal of solo time, and this time no one cries TOO much. They thanked a couple of people before the performance, and I could only figure out (ok, I only BOTHERED to figure out) what two of them were saying (no prizes for guessing who).
Shuta said something along the lines of "From the bottom of my heart, I really love everyone. From here on, please continue to support us. I'm Sueyoshi Shuta" and I was like AWWWWW. Urata simply thanked all his friends, staff and fans.
Thus the concert ends, and this is a must watch if you've never seen any of AAA's concert before. Just keep in mind that Urata usually performs way better. If you've seen many of their concerts before, this won't be boring for you either. There may be a lot of repeat performances, but they were all very well-done and impressive. There's also sufficient new stuff for you to get excited about.
That said, the best section of the concert would be the white section, while the most boring would be the blue. All the other sections had something special in some way or another, so you're bound to find something you like.
