Q4R #019: Oh, the drama!
Wednesday, August 12, 2009

This week's Q4R is all about dramas!

(Beware of long post. Or rather, ENJOY THIS LONG POST!)
  • What do you think about JDramas, you have any favorites?
  • Do you watch any doramas? Which one is your favourite?
  • What are your favorite Japanese and Korean dramas?
Well to be honest, I've not watched a lot of Japanese dramas recently, so off the top of my head, here are some of my favorites over the years.

[Pride]
Starring: Kimura Takuya, Takeuchi Yuko

I watched this when I was 15? I don't really remember that well, but it was one of the most romantic dramas I have ever watched. It is heart-wrenching, brings you all over the place emotionally (just when you think they are happily together, DUN DUN DUNNNNN SOMETHING HAPPENS!), and the two of them look so so good together.

Everything about this drama can be summarized in one word: pretty. Even the sex is pretty. Watch it and you'll know what I mean.

There's a bit of humor here and there in the drama too, so it's not an entirely depressing affair.

If you're the kind looking for something impossibly romantic and sad and yet happy at the same time, then this is for you.

I realize I should include some sort of synopsis so here's my version of the drama (go google it for a more correct version). A guy called Haru meets this girl called Aki. Aki has some boyfriend who is overseas (or something) and she is waiting for him to come back (without having any other boyfriend during the wait). Haru has this "game" of sorts with her where they agree to date and immediately break up when (and if) Aki's boyfriend comes back.

Yeah that's really all you need to know. Everything else I can say will be spoilertastic.

[Nodame Cantabile]
Starring: Tamaki Hiroshi, Ueno Juri

This drama is as you can see, all about orchestras and stuff. Nodame is a girl who has amazing talent in playing the piano, yet is rather careless with the way she plays it. Chiaki finds out about her talent and wants to nurture her or something. I forgot. But Chiaki wants to be a conductor. And Chiaki is a guy, yes.

Nodame Cantabile is a really funny and wacky show that gets all serious suddenly and then totally crazy again the next moment. It's really one of the most interesting Jdramas you can watch - there's never really a dull moment. Not necessarily the most romantic, but the lovey dovey parts are kind of cute too. Perfect if you want some romance, but not the serious life-or-death kind, and if you want to laugh a whole bunch.

[Boku dake no Madonna]
Starring: Takizawa Hideaki, Hasegawa Kyoko

Kyon (I think) is an architecture student living alone in Tokyo (I think). One night, he comes back to his rented apartment to find a mysterious and pretty woman sleeping on his bed. He darts into his bathroom (I think) and wonders whether she's a ghost. He comes back out and she's gone.

And yes, she does come back eventually and she's spying on her ex who is living directly opposite Kyon's apartment and then Kyon falls in love with her bla bla bla.

I think the main charm of this drama is how adorable Takki is and how strange Kyoko is. It's like a really mismatched pair that you're not sure should go together, and you just have to keep watching just to know what happens in the end.

Pretty funny, though nowhere close to Nodame Cantabile. Pretty romantic, though nowhere close to Pride. It's sort of like a... safe show?

Worth watching because you're bound to feel good after watching this. But it's not life-changing for sure.

[Hachimitsu to Clover aka Honey and Clover]
Starring: Narumi Riko, Ikuta Toma, Mukai Osamu, Narimiya Hiroki, Harada Natsuki

Basically about a bunch of art students chasing their dreams and falling in love with each other.

I know a lot of people would probably call this drama boring, but it's really quite a strong storyline with a pretty stellar cast. There's also enough humor scattered throughout the drama so it's really not all that bad.

It's admittedly not one of the fastest moving dramas around, nor is it one of the most romantic or funny, but it definitely ranks really high in the "looks" department. The cast is good looking, the setting is really gorgeous, and there's always a sort of nostalgic feel about the whole show. It's sort of like a modern day artsy short story, where everything just feels too perfect to be true.

You'd walk away from this drama feeling like you've lived out a really elaborate dream, but as time passes, the dream slips away and you really don't remember quite a lot of it. It's still very very beautiful and worth the time to watch and enjoy.

[Maou]
Starring: Ohno Satoshi, Ikuta Toma

A lawyer tries to kill an investigator's (is that what Ikuta is?) family and friends, making sure the investigators feels the full extent of loss and suffering before the investigator himself gets killed. Yet the lawyer is never found out.

The lawyer is doing this because the investigator accidentally killed the lawyer's brother years ago, yet got away with it because his father paid someone off.

Well honestly, the story is much better than what I just wrote. It's far too complex and clever to summarize correctly. If you're looking for suspense, mystery and drama, this is the perfect show for you. You'd be blown away by the amazing storyline, very strong acting and how darned intelligent it is.

Well except for the Tarot card gasping girl, which is just lame but if you can ignore that then it's a really great show.

[Seigi no Mikata (2008)]
Starring: Yamada Yuu, Shida Mirai, Mukai Osamu

A perfect older sister who is really an evil woman deep inside tortures her younger sister. However, no one notices anything abnormal about the older sister because all the evil she does (to others) end up benefiting those people, which causes people to call her "Seigi no Mikata", meaning ally of justice.

This drama is seriously all for the laughs. You'll laugh at how the younger sister Yoko is so pitiful and all the pain she has to go through. You'll laugh at how ridiculous bitchy and unreasonable the older sister Makiko is. And you'll swoon at how handsome Mukai Osamu is.

What else does one need?

---

I've watched way less Kdramas than Jdramas so I'm not really who you should about the matter. But off the top of my head, a few good ones I remember are Full House, My Lovely Sam Soon, Which star did you come from?, Coffee Prince and Goong.
  • omg Raid do you watch Japanese dramas? What are some of your favourite actors and actresses? I like Hayami Mokomichi, Inoue Mao and Horikita Maki. :D
I personally think Kimura Takuya is deserving of his "King of Jdrama" title, and I think the one to replace him will be Ikuta Toma.

But my favorite is still Mukai Osamu.

HOW CAN ANYONE LOOK SO PERFECT? And he's a nice guy and he looks awesome in glasses and he has a deep voice and he's tall and GUH he's seriously my favorite male in Japan right now.

As for actresses, Horikita Maki has very strong acting, but in terms of acting my favorite has probably got to be Aoi Yuu.

But being the superficial whore I am, my favorite has got to be her...

Eikura Nana.

GUH. TOO. PRETTY.

I've not even watched a single show with her in it!
  • Thoughts on Atashinchi no Danshi?

I have not watched it to be honest, and I don't really intend to. I went to read the synopsis of it though, here it is:

These days, the term "homeless" has taken on new meaning. There are youths referred to as "net cafe refugees," who have neither a job nor a place to live, but who find themselves hopping around internet cafes. One such refugee is a 20-year-old girl named Chisato, who lost her mother at a young age due to sickness. She spent her youth trying to escape from the huge debt her father left her, and her battle with the repossessors unfolded every night. However, her life changed after meeting one man named Shinzo, changing her views on the meaning of "family." Shinzo comes from a rich family tracing back to the Edo period, and he adopted six good-looking sons with the hope of one becoming his successor, but all of them have strange personalities. Shinzo promises to free Chisato from her debt if she marries him and becomes the mother of his sons. However, a life with these six guys under one roof will not go smoothly...

Wha? So random rich guy picks up homeless girl to be his wife and adopts handsome sons.

This sounds like a seriously ghey show to me. Like this dude has a serious daddy complex and marrying a woman whom he knows he has immense power over ("DO. NOT. FUCK. ME. WOMAN.") means he has a good cover yet doesn't have to do the nasty bits.

Come to think of it, I probably should be watching this show because it really does sounds right up my alley. Someone give me a screencap of Osamu being spanked by the father (preferably bottomless) and I'll be right on it.
  • Did you like (or even watch) Boys Before Flowers?

If you're talking about Hana Yori Dango (with Matsujun and Inoue Mao) then yes, I did watch it. Both seasons in fact. The storyline was sort of expected, probably because I've watched the Taiwanese version before (back in 2001).

But if you're talking about the Korean one (with Lee Minwoo and all those other nonsense) then no, I've not watched it. Firstly because I've already watched 4 whole seasons of it (2 Japanese 2 Taiwanese) and the thought of watching the same storyline yet again makes me hurl.

That and the fact that I really don't have the time and energy to learn to accept that gross hairstyle that Domyouji (or Goo Junpyo) sports. Seriously, he'd look better bald.
  • not asking to pressure, more for curiosity. But when will q4r's be stable again?

keep working hard at work though!
As you can see, I'm trying to get Q4Rs to be sort of stable again these past few weeks by preparing the posts in advance. My internship ends on 25th September (6 more weeks!), so it'll probably be back to normal by then. I'm really trying my best to keep up with the insane amounts of questions I receive (and I'm really glad and touched that you guys still care enough to give me questions!) so I will keep answering them till no one wants to ask me any more.

But guys, seriously, comment on my posts and let me know you guys are still here reading. I feel kind of schizo posting with no one telling me what they think about my posts!

That said, if you do have a question for me, do drop me a comment using the button below! :D

(And yes, you should know that drama-related questions won't be answered for a LOOOONG LOOONG time to come.)

Q4R #013: Johnny's Entertainment (Groups!)
Sunday, June 7, 2009

(Yes, I forgot to publish once again and instead drafted this damned thing. I hate work, work makes me stupid.)

This week is all about JE groups! Too many, so we'll have to see how it goes.
  • can you review and compare the music videos of both arashi - believe and ohno's solo ?
    please x.x
  • Comments on Arashi's believe and Ohno's solo. :D
(to think we just got through arashi week too.)
  • comments on ohnos solo
  • how do you like ohno satoshi's vocals ?

Well okay. I loved Believe a TON when it first came out, but eventually it just got SO DAMNED NOISY that I couldn't stand it. The music video was sort of boring, but the set was really pretty though. But the dancing still sucked.

Ohno's singing and solo was boring, but at least the dancing in the PV was good. *shrugs* And he's hot, so I'll forgive him. All I have to do is imagine him tied down on a bedframe and I'm good to go. Who cares about his singing!
  • Drunk and naked SMAP member alert! Do you think being in JE scarred them for life and made some of the boys a bit... mentally unstable?
  • I know its Kpop week and all, but ya GOTTA express your feelings on Kusanagi Tsuyoshi's arrest. xDDDD
  • Have you heard of the SMAP member who got arrested for being buck naked in public?
Since you seem to have a logical reason for everything, what do you think is the story behind this one?

With my awesome in-brain-chip that I've secretly embedded in every single JE male, I was able to dig through my archives to find this:

"W-why do those damned Japanese women like Takuya better than me..... WHY! WHAT IS IT THAT HE HAS THAT I DON'T? He's ... *bzzz* *bzzzzzzz* married. MARRIED YOU HEAR ME. And it's not like his penis is big either. I mean, LOOK AT MINE! .... Oh boy I'm tired, let's sit on this bench. Yeah, look at my thing, it's so big and beautifullllllll. Takuya's little flimsy one..... h-he's... Who's... Who are you? WHAT'S WRONG WITH BEING NAKED. I HAVE A BIG PENIS YOU HEAR ME. Guh... Damned Japanese women don't know what's good even if it hit them on the face..... ooh, a kitten... fucking Takuya...."

And wait till you hear the conversations Nishikido Ryo has with himself in his head. :D
  • Arashi's crazy moon! THOUGHTS :D ?

I prefer Ashita no Kioku a million times more. It is possibly one of the best songs that was released this year. Or maybe it's because I'm busy being an emo kid now. And the PV was well done too. I might gush about it in another post, if I ever find the time to.
  • Is it in any way possible that MatsuJun's straight? There are always some people whom everyone thinks is gay who actually aren't, but I can't tell if that could be the case with him since my gaydar is broken.
I highly doubt Matsujun is gay. He just doesn't give me that vibe at all. I think the only possible gay one in Arashi is Ohno, the rest of them just act that way.

And maybe Nino is bisexual because you know, he loves ze buttsecks with Ohno too much.
  • MATSUJUN IS HOT HOT HOT! Yummyyy ?
No.
  • Raid -
Please list, in order, which Arashi members you would have a relationship (dating/sexual, it doesn't matter) with. :3

1. Ohno - Because I like older guys. And the fact that he finds anything delicious is really adorable. And because's he's a repressed gay dude.
2. Nino - Because he's a bitch.
3. Sho - Because he's clever. I mean, Tokyo University, hello? That's sexy in my book. FINE FINE KEIO HAPPY NOW? Sheesh, it's not like the guy's my husband or something. All I know is he's smart, and I don't care about the rest. Deal with it.
  • Do you like the whole Arashi pairing thing? Sorry for the random question.
I like pairings in ANY group. So yes. And just in case you want to know, my fav pairing is Ohmiya. Because they're like married and happily fucking already. All you girls can just stop hoping now.
  • What are your thoughts on Kanjani8's latest subgroup songs and PVs (You Can See, Kicyu, Glorious) from their new album Puzzle?

Sadly, the only song I have no interest in comes from the only member I love. You Can See was consistently mediocre. The song is really just boring and not my kind of things. Admittedly, it had the best PV of the three (like hello, stupid cut-out art figures dancing? Why the fuck do I care?), but that wasn't enough to make up for the semi-bad song.

Glorious had the best combination of song/PV. The PV was sort of just typical Johnny's stuff but the song was surprisingly good. Considering it was written by someone who actually KNOWS English (I can't remember your name Mr. Songwriter, sorry), the lyrics were pretty much the best you can expect from a JE song.

"Glorious, glorious, miracle - you're the dreams I've got inside. Paint my world, of colors so divine."
Very worth the listen.

Kicyu was my favorite song of the three, but the PV was crap. The song is very typical pop, and the beat is somehow so darned addictive in that very dangerous way (I nearly started clapping my hands in public, the lady sitting beside me on the bus must've thought I was having spasms). Go listen to it. The PV was total crap though. I think HSJ was the one in charge of all the arts and craft in the PV.
  • What do you think of having Yamada as the spotlight for HSJ? Who do you think deserves it?

Well, in every group there will definitely be someone who has the spotlight, whether they deserve it or not. I've never found any of these group "spotlights" deserving of their place, and Yamada is included in this whole affair.

But honestly, HSJ as a whole is so plain personality-wise... so... Chinen? Because he's sort of cute. IDEK.

Or Okamoto. Because he already has abs. Add five years and he's gonna be the sexiest shit JE has seen in years.

I'm not going to ask for more questions this week, though I doubt anyone would listen. As you can see from the lateness of posts of late that I've been VERY busy with work and blogging has become a really tough act to keep up with. So yes, you can still ask me questions, but be prepared to wait a HIDEOUSLY long time for your answer.

I'm sorry? I really wish I had more time to be funny for you guys.

SQS #013
Sunday, November 16, 2008

Sorry for the unannounced one week break from blogging. I've been trying to get my life in some sort of a order, what with school starting and all that crap. There will definitely be a new post this week! :D

This week's hot as hell SQS features...

Kimura Takuya!

Probably the hottest anan shoot of them all. Or the most downright sexual. Leave it to KimuTaku to do such a shoot without getting bombed by fans. xD

H!P X JE = Different Gender Same Agenda?
Tuesday, January 29, 2008

I've just watched the latest Buono PV and realized that they highly resemble a certain JE group, and upon closer look I realized that this can be said for many other groups as well. So here's my little observation on H!P and JE.

[Buono]
JE parallel: KAT-TUN

Both these groups are undoubtedly performing the heavier songs amongst their peers, and the same can be said on their choice of attire. Both groups have gained immense popularity from the start and it seems that nothing will stop them both.

Sadly, it seems I will never grow to like these two groups' music.

[Ongaku Gatas]
JE Parallel: Kanjani 8

Both groups seem to have songs that are more fun-based than anything else, which makes them both enjoyable to listen to generally. They take a very broad range of genres, yet manage to sound cute and even hilarious when they're at it. Very easily my favorite groups of them all.

[GAM]
JE Parallel: Tackey & Tsubasa

Well, both groups have two very popular members from their company thrown together to make a very strong group vocally. Their songs seem to be astoundingly similar as well (LU LU LU is very similar to TxT's Serenade), which shows for something I guess. Both groups have one person that outshines the other a lot more (Mikitty and Tackey) and I guess it's just pure coincidence that the duo's names just happen to rhyme correspondingly (Tackey X Mikitty, Aya X Tsubasa). Most of the time I would like them and their songs, but sometimes they just release songs that make me want to punch my face in. It's freaky how similar they are. Oh, and both groups have homo-tendencies going on as well. *shrugs*

[Berryz Kobo & °C-ute]

JE Parallels: NEWS & HEY! SAY! JUMP

All groups are very popular and have a huge member count. Berryz Kobo and NEWS both debuted at 8 members, and have "lost" members along the way (1 for Berryz, 2 for NEWS).

All four groups were not supposed to be as they are right now. NEWS & HSJ debuted only because they were insanely popular, C-ute was only formed because of... I don't know what. Berryz Kobo was supposed to have more members (or rotating members), but stuck as what they are right now. In any case, these four groups were formed rather randomly, and have since gained immense popularity.

Also, both C-ute and NEWS's first singles were not sold by conventional methods (record stores) but rather by some way that only Japanese fans can buy (7-11 for NEWS, concert venues and official store for C-ute).

C-ute and HSJ both sing very cutesy songs, much due to their age. Berryz Kobo and NEWS take on a myriad of different genres, yet all of it work for them somehow.

[Morning Musume]
JE Parallel: SMAP

Both groups are undoubtedly old and have both established a good name for themselves. Most people associate H!P with Momusu and JE with SMAP. Both groups are responsible for the idol-culture in Japan that we see right now, and are also responsible for the rise of their respective companies. Both groups happen to be insanely well known for two songs respectively (Lion heart/Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana for SMAP, and Renai Revolution 21/Love Machine for Momusu). Both groups have one song with PEACE in its title (The Peace! for Momusu, PEACE! for SMAP) and have one "Dear" song (Roman My DEAR boy for Momusu, Dear Woman for SMAP). Both groups have crazy amounts of loyal fans (especially older ones) but are seeing a slight decline in younger fans. Both groups' record sales are also on the decline. Both groups' latest singles happen to bring in the lowest sales they've had in years.

So you see, JE and H!P is not all that different after all. Other similarities include having official shops, selling official photos and having a crazy amount of overseas fans all wanting to hike to Japan just to attend a concert or go to one of those shops.

Which is why I stick to Hirai Ken. Name me another old, probably-gay, sings well, does the Soul/Jazz/Ballads/R&B genres best, tall, Caucasian-looking guy in Japan. (I happen to know of one, but I'm just keeping quiet xD) You probably won't find any, but if you do, you and I make very good friends. =D

Oh and I've just won these a few days ago on YJA!

Happy fan. =D

2008? // SMAP?
Friday, January 11, 2008

I predict I will be crazy about these 3 artistes in 2008. We'll see how things go.

Who knows, I could be totally wrong, we'll find out at the end of 2008. =D

And to answer more doubts about my formula for a star (huahuahua), here's a little recap.

A popular Jpop group would need to be purely female or male to be successful. In addition, having as many of these qualities as possible would result in higher popularity.
  1. Young (Below 30s)
  2. Sings / Writes songs very well
  3. Is controversial in some way / Sells sex
  4. Gives off homo-tendencies
And the group in question today is...

[SMAP]
Points fulfilled: Apparently none?
Best sales in 2007:
157,663 copies for Dangan Fighter

Why would a group with zero points fulfilled still sell this well?

Let's go back in time when they still could sing, and still were young. Judging by their oldest member Nakai, it means we have to go back till before 2002.

Points fulfilled: 1, 2, 3, 4
Best sales in 2000:
1,563,260 copies for Lion Heart

Back when they were still young, Kimutaku and Tsuyoshi Kusanagi were both at the height of their careers (what with Kimitaku in numerous dramas and Tsuyoshi in that eating-non-stop show). Hence it is safe for us to say that their single sold very much on sex appeal too, even if no actual body-baring was involved.

Back when they were still young, homo-tendencies between members (Goro Inagaki was the object of ALL their affection) was still acceptable. Now that they are "old", it's just plain weird.

Back then, they could still sing.

Seeing as such, they were a four-point group which sold ridiculously well. That 150-odd thousand doesn't seem so impressive now does it.

Few years later, Nakai was 31 and they managed to sell 2-million odd copies of Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana. They've never seen such success ever since.

However, it is still odd that a group like this can still sell over 100k copies in today's music industry. I attribute much of this to reputation, and fan loyalty.

A SMAP fan that liked them from the start would easily be in their 30s or 40s now. Surely being young and sex appeal and all that doesn't really matter to these fans because they've liked SMAP for such a long time and familiarity just triumphs.

That said, this would have been a 5th factor, except that it contradicts point number 1. Young people haven't had enough time to build themselves a reputation the SMAP way.

But surely, reputation for other young artists will grow, and SMAP's reputation will fall just like it already did. Soon other artists' reputation will outshine SMAP (overused example: Koda Kumi) and SMAP will lose out on the music industry cake.

In any case, as time goes on, SMAP will slowly lose its fan base. Out of every 10 SMAP fans back then, only 1 still likes them now. If the fan base continues decaying like this, in 6 years we'll be looking at 10k sales.

SMAP is a typical product. A product enters the market as a Star, with loads of growth potential. The product matures and becomes a cash cow, which is SMAP during their Lion Heart years. Right now however, they've entered the marketing stage known as decay, or death of a product.

Good luck to them.

Nakai Masahiro denies rumors
Wednesday, January 2, 2008

Just in case you've been a bit slow, Nakai Masahiro was rumored to have been dating Koda Kumi just a while back. Something about Kuu buying vegetables and going to his house to stay for a pretty long while.

This naturally sparked off tons of debate about Avex's Queens matching Johnny's Kings and giving birth to incredibly powerfully-voiced babies (though obviously not possible in this case, what with Nakai's horrible voice). Fans were speculating and I was cringing at Kuu's lack of taste in men.

However, right after the 58th Kouhaku Utagassen, Nakai denies the rumors that he and Kuu are dating and cohabiting (or so I assume, "全然、何もないんです。お泊まり愛? 全然ないんです").

This is rather fascinating to me. Fans of either half of this romance would have known that this was a rumor that has been around since August 2007. Why would he deny it only after Kuu has been spotted going to his house with groceries?

Let's assume just for the sake of, that Nakai is telling the truth. Who was that grocery-girl that has been mistaken for Koda Kumi? Why has SHE kept so quiet for such a long time?

If I were a typical girl who had been mistaken for Koda Kumi, I would be pretty darn happy, and start telling all my friends about how dumb the media and everyone in Japan is for not knowing its me in the photo.

One of my very evil friends will then call the media, telling them my real identity, and I will then be constantly hounded by the paparazzi. After a few months, I will release a statement that we have broken up and then go on to release 3 multi-million-selling singles.

OR! I would be so touched that my dear Nakai-chan has protected my identity and denied the horrible rumor about him and Koda Kumi. I will then go on to tell all my friend about what a wonderful boyfriend he is.

THEN one of my very evil friends will then call the media, telling them my real identity, and I will then be constantly hounded by the paparazzi. After a few months, I will release a statement that we have started planning our marriage and then go on to release 5 multi-million-selling singles.

Either way, that girl buying groceries may not know it now, but she is going to be darn popular in a few months time.

But IF the grocery girl IS Koda Kumi, oh ho ho. Won't Nakai be in for some deep shit.

Koda Kumi will quarrel with him, and eventually break up with him. She will go on to write endless sad songs about her breakup, lose a lot of weight and wear heavy gothic eye make-up. In other words, she will begin her de-evolution into Mika Nakashima.

During the big fight that eventually led to their breakup, Koda Kumi jumped on Nakai, breaking multiple bones in his body. He will not be able to reconstruct any of them due to him being old and... old. He will go on to tell his life story to a close friend of his, who happens to be very evil and money-minded (*ahem* Kimutaku *Ahem*) and that close friend will go on to produce a movie about Nakai's life. The movie will be aptly titled The life of a Johnny's Uncle. A lot of fangirls will watch the movie, pity him and he will still rank in anan's yearly male ranking.

Kimu... I mean his friend will earn a lot of money and live happily ever after. Until Johnny Kitagawa decides to sue him for using Johnny's in his movie title. The issue will get so big that Johnny Depp will be forced to change his name as well.

Now who says Jpop is boring? xD

My Top 10 of EVERYTHING for 2007 (part 3)
Friday, December 14, 2007

Initially I want to continue on the HM@ X Guro post, but I had nothing much to say except how cute Aika is, so I skipped that.

Then I was going to compile a list of my top 10 artists of 2007, but as Kimitsu noted, it is very overused. So I'll have to keep that till I'm really desperate.

And so, here's the topic this time:

TOP 10 FASHION DISASTERS ON MUSIC STATION

I doubt anyone has done this yet (if they have, they're really bored and insane, like I am). So here we go!

Number 10: BoA

This outfit looks plenty weird on our dear BoA. Doesn't it look like a modified raincoat to you? No wait, actually it doesn't. It looks like the sewing machine ate up her curtain AND her raincoat, then vomited out this mess. And is that a plastic bag she's wearing as a skirt? Oh goodness.

Number 9: Masuda (NEWS)

Looks like someone woke up way too late and rushed to work immediately. Since when is it okay to go on a television show in your pajamas? Worse still, it looks like the pajamas of a CLOWN. Add on to that grandma's cardigan, and you have this lovely outfit. Smashing.

Number 8: Arashi

Damn! Masuda already wore his grandmother's outfit! What should we wear! Oh I know! Why don't we cut up this lovely purple carpet and make them into cool outfits that match! Oh the fangirls are going to think we're so cool with our matching outfits, and it's so unique too! Damn, we're smart!

Number 7: Nakai Masahiro (SMAP)

While this really isn't a bad outfit, Nakai is simply OLD, and old people should refrain from wearing jeans with huge holes that are way too close to their.....

Ahem, anyways. Someone tell me why he is wearing bandages on his hands? Is it some old-people kind of fashion statement that I can't seem to understand? Looks that way for sure.

Number 6: Kanjani 8

Kanjani 8 has an odd fetish for wearing utterly HORRIBLE outfits, and this set won't let you down either. Gaudy colors that simply clash like a paint truck accident, this would have been painful to look at, had it not been so funny. Which is what Kanjani 8 does really, be funny in horrible outfits.

Number 5: Yuna Ito

Identity crisis alert! Yuna can't decide whether she wants to be a nun, some choir girl or to go to a funeral! Won't someone help the poor girl out? Start with that hideous huge bow tie please. *shivers*

Number 4: Hamasaki Ayumi

I really don't know what's wrong with the outfit, but it just is. Perhaps because of her messed up hair, her tired face, and how revealing this outfit is, it gives me the impression that Ayumi was doing something really vigorous (if you know what I mean) just 10 minutes before the show. Couldn't she keep her recreational activites for after the show? Desperate much?

Number 3: Akira (EXILE)

*headtable* Why did he choose such an OLD LOOKING SUIT TO WEAR?! He doesn't look all too young to begin with, so he should really choose something that makes him look.... fresher at least. Now he simply looks like a grandfather, with bad fashion sense. Which is not too far a stretch is it?

Number 2: Koda Kumi

Another artist infamous for godawful outfits, Koda Kumi outdoes herself this time in this pink-blue-black-purple outfit (the colour scheme of an injury, then a bruise). She couldn't decide between the gray and the pink top and hence decides to safety-pin the two together. Then she faces another dilemma - leggings or shorts? Then comes the sudden realization that SHE CAN WEAR BOTH! So both it is. Looking at herself in the mirror, she can't really decide what style of clothing she is wearing. Since it is more sporty than anything, she decides to steal the shoes of a random Tohoshinki member to complete this nightmarish getup. Kudos for moxie.

Number 1: Akanishi Jin

Hmmm, why does this outfit look so familiar?

Oh yes that's why.

Akanishi Jin, having no idea what to wear decides to consult fashionista Koda Kumi! Koda Kumi simply lends him this outfit (that she wore on Music Station too) and tells him not to worry. Jin sure knows where to look for help doesn't he!

My biggest gripe with this outfit is probably how furry it is. Akanishi Jin should not be on Music station, but rather on Sesame street or something. In fact, he looks like he went to Sesame Street JAIL. He should really go there though, considering what a huge fashion crime he is committing here.
